The Rickmansworth Aquadrome is a superb 180-acre nature reserve with two large lakes formed from former gravel pits. Families come for picnics by the water, paddleboarding, sailing, windsurfing, and watching wildfowl. There's a good adventure play area, a café, and easy walking trails around the lakes. The Aquadrome hosts regular outdoor events and is one of the best free family days out in Hertfordshire.
